1. Introduced concepts of Less-Developed Countries (LDCs), More-Developed Countries (MDCs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and international trade organizations. Conducted activity, "10 Basic Questions About Globalization," within study groups. Each group then taught other groups about it questions, completing a study guide, which is due today. With a partner, read two articles ("World Out of Balance" and "The Economic Damage from a Trade War"), Marked the Text for each, taught each other their article by discussing its main points, finishing by summarizing given article with a 50-word summary sentence and summarizing partner's article with a one-page summary. 5. Introduction to international trade organizations and refresher on NGO's, LDC's, and MDC's. In computer lab, completed study on international trade organizations and NGO's by engaging in a Webquest, which is due tomorrow. Read Chapter 18--Sections 2 and 3. [12/20]
6. Learned about the founding and the purposes of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Given case studies of five nations that sought help from the IMF in the 1990s, study groups completed worksheet addressing the problems, solutions,and results for these countries, and created a poster for its assigned country, and then presented to class. 7. In study groups, learned about how a specific former communist country (Poland, China, or Russia) transitioned to a market-based economy. Presented findings to class. Completed table on various issues about these transitions--due Thursday. [1/8]

Students took that information, located in a distributed packet, to complete a table of what the roles of these institutions are and which ones fill those roles. This table is due on Thursday. Broke into five groups, each of which got the answers to two (2) oif the Basic Questions of Globalization, and were directed to summarize each answer on a sheet of butcher paper for display in the classroom. Once group was done with its display and had posted it on the blackboard, students conducted a Gallery Walk by going to each question and writing the answer on their study guide, which was due at the end of class today.
Learned about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NAFTA). Distributed article describing the arguments for the creation of NAFTA and the arguments against. Using this information, complete the Pros/Cons chart by Friday.
